I remember after 9/11/2001, suddenly church attendance rose dramatically. I think we as a nation probably did turn to God more earnestly for a while, but I look at things now, and they seem even worse than they were before. I shudder to think it's going to take another catastrophe to wake us up again, but the lessons of history are pretty clear.
