JOTS FROM OLD JAKE
Hearers of the Word:

One of the plagues that encompass the business and or professional world today is the employee or subordinate who is �Un-teachable!� I have had personnel who fit into that category during my tenure as an administrator. This �UT� person a detriment to the function of the unit in which they were working. In many cases, in my situation, this caused a potential of others being physically assaulted. In government positions it is hard to get those individuals out of their position once they are certified to that job. Even before that it is hard to remove them.
What is the indicator of such a person? Have you ever tried to teach another person something and as you are explaining the concept they are saying all the right words and nodding as if to say, �Yep I understand,� and then when it is time to use this knowledge they do just the opposite? You go through the same lesson again with them from a different angle and get the same response as before. You think surly they got the message this time. Nope, when the occurrence arises again they do it the wrong way again. These UT persons are smug in believing they are right-on with their method. They just don�t have the basic concept of what kind of job they are employed to do. They appear to not have a concept of where they are working and the dangers of not understanding the same environment and how to deal with it.
Perhaps it is hard for persons who have never had to deal with the elements of this nature, to understand this entry. To them I apologize. However, this world today is getting more and more just like this environment. I am referring to the element of felons who are incarcerated. Persons who have never worked with this element have a general perception that working in such a place would really be undesirable due to the type of individual you have incarcerated. Such is really not the case! The major problems evolve with your peers who are totally naive to their position or their environment. They can, by their UT disability cause the entire unit to blow up. They are wise in their own conceits and feel they have done nothing wrong.
Proverbs 26:12 (KJV) Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
The above mention element is just a condensed window of the world wide situation. I believe that to understand the evils taking place across the nation and through-out the world today are of the same type of philosophy or thinking patterns which are concentrated in the prisons and jails of today.
It is strange to see a fad of appearance start in the prisons and then in five years become the fad of the teenagers on the streets. I have seen this happen many times over the past thirty plus years.
I believe that our leaders who make decisions in this country must be persons who are teachable. They must have open ears, eyes and be willing to ask the Lord for wisdom and understanding. They can not have a closed line of thought but be understanding of the things of evil.
A columnist, Baxter Black, DVM: made a statement when writing about the conflict between environmentalist and the animal agricultural community. He said, �The first step in engaging in an issue is the have the ability to understand your �opponent�s� point of view.� This is also true in the world conflicts. I believe that many Christian organizations have made efforts in vain because they have not understood the point of view their opponents. Nor have they got their point of view across to the other side. It is amazing how many �Christians� think that the terrorist acts against this nation are a direct result of �us not showing them love!� The terrorist could care less, they are evil in their own conceits and want to do away with anything that resembles the True Living God or His followers.
Folks: Let us pray with out ceasing for our leaders, that they are given the wisdom to make the right choices for our country to have a revival of our Lord�s presence.
