This is also great. I've been showing that passage in Proverbs to people off and on for 24 years, mostly in answer to the common misconception that God is some kind of chauvinist, always personified as male and never female. As I'm sure you know, there are also places where the Godhead is "gender-neutral" (Elohim, for example, in Genesis, is first person plural, as in "We.") Thanks for a great study.

1-5 A green Shoot will sprout from Jesse's stump, from his roots a budding Branch. The life-giving Spirit of God will hover over him, the Spirit that brings wisdom and understanding, The Spirit that gives direction and builds strength, the Spirit that instills knowledge and Fear-of-God. Fear-of-God will be all his joy and delight. He won't judge by appearances, won't decide on the basis of hearsay. He'll judge the needy by what is right, render decisions on earth's poor with justice. His words will bring everyone to awed attention. A mere breath from his lips will topple the wicked. Each morning he'll pull on sturdy work clothes and boots, and build righteousness and faithfulness in the land.

Jake, I was catching up on my comments pages, and just now saw where you quoted Isaiah 30:29. That's a trip, because at one point I wrote a worship song on that single verse. I'd found the verse and strongly felt I had to write music to it, and the whole song came all at once: a slow, worshipful melody.

Thank you Dixie and Andy for your comments Also Andy, I love to sing songs that are quotes from the Word of God! They have a built in anointing in the lyrics. Bless the Lord Oh my soul and all that is within me Bless His Holy Name!
