JOTS FROM OLD JAKE

CONCUCT OF BELIEVERS:

Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 - 1:17 p.m.

The code of conduct for a Christian may vary according to the Light the person may have. You can only live in the light you have! Paul was a versatile man; so to speak, he would change his pattern of living just to be able to be accepted by others for the purpose of winning them to the Christian walk. I am referring to doing things that was believed by some as the righteous thing to do but are not required by the Christian walk. He had Timothy circumcised just so that the people who would listen to him and receive Jesus. I am sure Paul had limits as to what he would do, as would anyone who would use common sense. For instance I dont believe he would steal, lie or cheat, but then that would doing directly against the scriptures.

Romans 14:1-5 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

Paul is trying to tell us not to pit at each other as to our personal beliefs; but to receive all believers into our fellowship. However, if the doctrine is false dont even let them in.

For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs. Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

Genesis 9:3-4 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things. But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

I conclude that the conduct of the Christian should be according to what the Holy Spirit is leading each individual to do. What can or cannot be done by the individual is only for that person only. We have no business putting our leading on other people. As Paul said, let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind! I believe that we should ignore the Fruit Inspectors of our Christian walk so that we can listen to the still small voice within ourselves that is the Spirit of the Lord. Trying to do what other Christians tells us is right or wrong to do, unless that direction is pointing to listening to the Spirit of the Lord, can block out the sound of the still small voice. Trust me The way of the Holy Spirit is much less taxing to our minds and bodies than the legalism of the authoritative know-it-all believers!

We used to sing a little lilt, His ways are higher than mine. His ways are wiser than mine Although the song is quite simple it sure does say the truth.
