JOTS FROM OLD JAKE

Relationship

Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007 - 12:18 a.m.

Ephesians 4:1-3 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy (axios; ax-ee'-oce; appropriately:--as becometh, after a godly sort, worthily(-thy)) of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; (some of the fruits of the Spirit) Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

I have probably expressed before that there is no way that we can be worthy in our selves of any of Gods Glory. If we walk worthily in his spirit it means that we are doing it with all integrity and an attitude of being as close to being real as possible. That sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo, but the desire of hour heart determines what direction we wish to go.

Being a Christian is not just a person who associates with other people who call themselves Christians. Neither is it a religion (Religion: living within a specific set of rules or edicts consistently.) it is a relationship with our Father in Heaven, His Son, and the Holy Spirit that indwells us.

We need to die to ourselves, which is to the Old Flesh (our sinful nature) to acquire the attitude of walking worthily. Maybe that is more confusing. Our walk with the Lord is not magic. We cant say certain words and boom we are in the walk. It is a cultivated relationship. It is the initial desire and acceptance of the Lord, Him living within and allowing Him to give us the desires of our hearts. That is placing the desire within our heart.

When I was working in a Bio lab we used to grow cultures for out research and testing. First of all you had to start with an approved container, then place the right food (agar) for growth, then the material (bacteria-seed) to be grown must mixed in or on the agar, then placed in optimal environment (incubator). The next steps required a reasonable time for the growth to take hold and spread.

Saul was struck blind on the road to Damascus. He was the approved container. The Lord encountered him and gave him the seed, and then he sent him into the desert for three years where he got the proper food and instruction and for growth. His name was then changed to Paul and he became one of the major leaders in the early church.

When we first accept the Lord we are generally over zealous because we see such a wonderful change in our own lives. The problem with that is that we tend to get ahead of the leading of the Lord and run into snags without the maturity to handle them. Many times you will see this with ministers who have fallen by the way side. They let the enemy convince them that the Lord is not with them and they get discouraged. Sometimes such persons revert to drinking and die off as a laughing stock to the non-believers.

I can only suggest when you feel that God is not with you, Stop what you are doing, Seek His face, Wait for Him to give guidance. You know that the steps of the righteous man or woman are order of God! Keep Him ahead of you! Know His Voice! Wait upon Him. They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength
