JOTS FROM OLD JAKE

BORN-AGAIN BENEFITS:

Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007 - 5:26 p.m.

From this passage I have listed eight benefits of being born-again. There are probably many more but these have a goodly amount to behold. I have numbered them in the text to reference below.

Romans 5:1-11 Therefore being justified by faith, we have (1)peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have (2)access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in (3)hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we (4)glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the (5)love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the (6)Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be (7)saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also (8)joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

1) PEACE:eirene i-ray'-nay; peace (literally or figuratively); by implication, prosperity:--one, peace, quietness, rest, + set at one again. There are different types of peace such as:
World peace: The United Nations has worked for it as the old League of Nations did. They didnt get anywhere in the past, and theyre not getting anywhere today. As I write this, a great many people believe that if you protest loudly enough you can bring peace to the world by human manipulation or psychological gyrations. As long as there is sin in the hearts of men, there never will be peace in the worldnot until the Prince of Peace comes.

Tranquility of soul: John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

The peace that passeth all understanding: Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: This is peace, the rest of redemption. Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

2) ACCESS: prosagoge pros-ag-ogue-ay'; admission:--access.

3) HOPE: elpis el-pece' (to anticipate, usually with pleasure); expectation (abstractly or concretely) or confidence:--faith, hope. In other words to give us an assurance of something in the future.

4) TRIUMPH IN TROUBLES: kauchaomai kow-khah'-om-ahee; to vaunt (in a good or a bad sense):--(make) boast, glory, joy, rejoice. (en en in) thlipsis thlip'-sis; pressure (literally or figuratively):--afflicted(-tion), anguish, burdened, persecution, tribulation, trouble.

5) LOVE OF GOD agape ag-ah'-pay; love, i.e. affection or benevolence; specially (plural) a love-feast:--(feast of) charity(-ably), dear, love. (of) theos theh'-os; a deity, especially the supreme Divinity; figuratively, a magistrate; by Hebraism, very:--X exceeding, God, god(-ly, -ward).

6) THE HOLY SPIRIT: hagios hag'-ee-os; sacred (physically, pure, morally blameless or religious, ceremonially, consecrated):--(most) holy (one, thing), saint. pneuma pnyoo'-mah; a current of air, i.e. breath (blast) or a breeze; by analogy or figuratively, a spirit, i.e. (human) the rational soul, (by implication) vital principle, mental disposition, etc., or (superhuman) an angel, demon, or (divine) God, Christ's spirit, the Holy Spirit:--ghost, life, spirit(-ual, -ually), mind.

7) DELIVERANCE FROM WRATH: sozo sode'-zo; to save, i.e. deliver or protect (literally or figuratively):--heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole. apo apo'; i.e. away (from something near), in various senses (of place, time, or relation; literal or figurative) orge or-gay'; by implication punishment:--anger, indignation, vengeance, wrath.

8) JOY kauchaomai kow-khah'-om-ahee; to vaunt (in a good or a bad sense):--(make) boast, glory, joy, rejoice.
