JOTS FROM OLD JAKE

DAVIDS LAST WORDS

Tuesday, Oct. 02, 2007 - 3:50 p.m.

2 Samuel 23:1 KJV) Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,

The following is a copy out of the notes of J. V. McGees Through The Bible series: (David was the son of Jesse. Jesse was a peasant, a farmer in BethlehemDavid was never ashamed of that. God lifted David up on high. He placed him with the great men of the world. David was the anointed of the God of Jacob. The same God who took that clever, conniving fellow Jacob and made him Israel, a prince with God, is the same God who took David and put him on the throne. He is the same God who saved me and the same God who saved you. He is gracious, good, and loving. Oh, my friend, how wonderful is our God!)

I dont think I could say it any better Our Lord Jesus is so great! McGee continues: (David was also the sweet psalmist of Israel. He was a musician: he wrote music, he played music, and he loved to hear music. I share Davids love for music although I have no talent for reproducing music in any form. But I appreciate good music. I dont care for what we call rock musicin fact, to me it is not even music. I deeply regret that this type of music is being brought into the church. Good music, elevating music, music that thrills the soul has always contributed something beautiful to mans worship of his God.)

I guess I have close to the same feelings about music as McGee. I find it rare to go to a church service and experience the moving of the Holy Spirit during their praise service. The words have good meaning but the anointing on the music just doesnt seem to be there. They show some excitement but not an anointing. They may dance but not in the spirit. It is more just jumping in cadence to the music. The whole show appears to be done by direction of a choreographer. If they clap their hands they must not clap out of cadence and must make the same arm movements like: (1) clap, (2) pull elbows back to the back,(and), (1) clap and so on. I dont know for sure but if you are paying attention to making the politically correct movement you cant be opening your heart to let the Spirit move within you. Like I said that is my take on it. I have definitely been proven wrong before. The only way I can feel the presence in such a meeting is to just close my eyes and pray in the Spirit to the Lord. (under my breath so as not to disrupt the persons around me who are following the scheduled programming of the service).

I am not complaining as such just to be belly-aching. The problem might just be more inside me than with the others around. However, I am more concerned that we get back to our first love and allow the Spirit to move in the congregation. I think back to the times when the Spirit of the Lord was so dense that we became drunk in the Spirit. I am talking about the Holy Spirit not the ethanol verity!

2 Sam. 23:2 (KJV) The spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue

The Spirit of God came upon David, and that is the way he wrote his psalms. Peter tells us that that is the way men wrote the Old Testament.

2 Pet 1:20-21 (KJV) Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

The words that were given by the Holy Spirit to David: 2 Sam 23:3-5 (KJV) The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain. Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.

The words he spoke are important even today. Out leaders must be just and rule in the fear of God. I remember back (I was quite young then) at the end of WW II how things were. The nation was really being blessed at first and things were looking up. As time passed this nation in general started moving away from God and into idolatry, pornographic obsessions, homosexualism, drugs, the list goes on. It is the belief of some Bible Scholars that the above list is the judgment that God has allowed on this nation because this nation (in general terms) is leaning away from the truth of God as our creator!

Romans 1:28 (KJV) And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

2 Tim 3:7-8 (KJV) Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

Titus 1:15-16 (KJV) Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

It is easy to wonder into darkness without realizing that you are. As the sun goes down the darkness moves in slowly. Not like if you are in a dark room where film is developed and you shut of the light it gets dark instantly. As the light goes away our eyes adjust to the lack of light and we can see still navigate though impaired by reflected light. The same is true spiritually the Son gets out of our sight slowly because we are looking away and we adjust to this by navigating by reflected Light. Soon we find ourselves in almost total darkness. I am speaking in general terms of a nation.

We the believers of this nation must do spiritual battle and attempt to regain the Light of the Lord in our nation lest we see more destruction come upon us!

VERSE FOR THIS ENTRY!

Hebrews 11:6 (KJV) But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
