JOTS FROM OLD JAKE

OTS MEMORY:

Saturday, Jul. 14, 2007 - 1:24 a.m.

This entry is a little off the normal subject profile. I wish to devote this entry to the memory of Pat B. a shirttail aunt of mine who passed just a few days ago.

Pat fit the image you might have of a real country woman of tenacity. My family has been engrained with women of such talent. This is one who was related to me by marriage. She never took abuse from anyone.

She and her husband were working the family homestead and dairy farm. They had an old dog that was a good cow dog and was getting along in years. The cow dog lost almost all of his teeth and walked slowly with an aggravated limp. He would take a walk down to the end of their property and back every day about the same time every day. He would stay in the bar ditch on his side of the road and would never go into the road. One day the man across the road from Pats family homestead shot the aged cow dog. He claimed that he was down killing his sheep. Well this upset Pat greatly and for the next couple of weeks, after they had words over the matter, she sat out on her porch with her shot gun in hand and made motions like she was going to shoot the shooter when he went by.

The old boy who shot the cow dog had to go by their place to get down to check on his livestock or he would have to go around a two section block if he was going to make sure they were ok and had enough water.

In stead of going the short road in front of Pats place he made the extra ten mile round trip twice or more a day.

Yes. Pat was angry at the ole boy but she would never shoot the guy as a matter of fact the shot gun she was using had a bad firing pin and no ammo in it. It couldnt have been fired even if she wanted to.

I will never forget Pat. She really had a genuine good heart I believe when we met again on the other shore we will have lots of old memories to share.

So long for now, Aunt Pat! Ill see you when the Lord sees fit to take me home.

Verse for today!

Psalms 107:8-9 (KJV) Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

Ulterior thought:

When you have lost all of your marbles it is time to play a different game!

May You Be Blessed by the Holy Spirit to Overflowing!

Bye for Now!
