JOTS FROM OLD JAKE THE CROWN OF LIFE: The memory verse today talks about receiving the crown of life. The word in the Greek text for crown of life is: stephanos, stef'-an-os; and refers to a reward given to the saints for their efforts as believers. It is like a badge of royalty or a prize in the public games or a symbol of honor etc. In the past that term has be misconstrued as meaning the key to salvation. The Greek word for the key to salvation is: pisteuo, pist-yoo'-o; meaning to have faith fully trusting in believing Christ! That is the knowing in your spiritual heart that Jesus Christ it the Son of God, that he suffered for our atonement, was buried and arose the third day and then after meeting with his disciples ascended to the throne above. He is there building our new home and will return for those who have pisteuo, faith in Him! Memory verse for today: James 1:12 (KJV) Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Note: the Badge of Royalty does not in anyway, concept, or by practice become associated with the soda drink, Royal Crown, or to the liquor, Crown Royal. It doesnt even have anything to do with being royally crowned when you standup and she said shut-up! Just thought I would share that with you just in-case there is confusion from all three. May You Be Blessed by the Holy Spirit to Overflowing! Bye for Now!
