JOTS FROM OLD JAKE

Day of Vengeance:

Saturday, Jun. 23, 2007 - 9:44 p.m.

Okay! Jesus was in the synagogue on the Sabbath and was reading from the scriptures as was His routine in those days:

Luke 4:17-20 (KJV) And there was delivered unto Him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent me to heal the Brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And He closed the book, and He gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on Him. And He began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Notice that He closed the scripture and quit reading before he finished the sentence. He did not read, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; I believe that the reason He did that is that only the part He had read was fulfilled at that time. The remainder of the prophecy was yet to come and still is yet to come, at this moment. He was reading from Isaiah 61.

Isaiah 61:1-2 (KJV) The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

Speaking of yet to come I am eagerly waiting for the following day to come I sure want to be ready How about you?

1 Thessalonians. 4:16-17 (KJV) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

And the Amplified version of the same:

1 Thessalonians. 4:16-17 (Amp) For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud cry of summons, with the shout of an archangel, and with the blast of the trumpet of God. And those who have departed this life in Christ will rise first. Then we, the living ones who remain [on the earth], shall simultaneously be caught up along with [the resurrected dead] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so always (through the eternity of the eternities) we shall be with the Lord!

Memory verse for today:

Psalms 103:8-12 (KJV) The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

WOW! DO I EVER APPRECIATE THAT PROMISE!

Ulterior thought:

If you work for a living, why do you kill yourself working?
(The G, B, and U)
