JOTS FROM OLD JAKE

PERILOUS TIMES!

Saturday, Mar. 17, 2007 - 2:14 a.m.

Wow this is a deep subject.. I started to look up each one of the problems that are listed in verses 2 through 5. Like what is the Greek word for blasphemers and what does it mean.

blasphemos, blas'-fay-mos; from a der. of G984 and G5345; scurrilous, i.e. calumnious (against man), or (spec.) impious (against God):--blasphemer (-mous), railing

Well as you can see that this entry would turn into a book. It would probably distract from the point I am trying to make. Oh yes the point Perilous times in the last days. We have become quite complacent with things that are happening all around us. There is no way to go back to the peaceful times I grew up in while I was a youth. These times have been deteriating every since the second World War ended. Sure things were tight then and every one I knew had a brother, son or loved one lost in the battles of that war. We are definitely seeing that same thing happening here now.

The symptoms of the perilous times are described in the text of 2 Timothy the third chapter. If you analyze the current times you will see that they follow all of the symptoms listed.

We are warned not to follow such thinking or behavior, because it is what leads to false teachings and apostasy in the church. Leading to a form of godliness but void of the Power of God.

How do we avoid this happening to us well it is really simple you stay washed under the Blood of the Lamb. Daily taking up the Cross of Jesus, asking forgiveness for all our transgressions and repenting of same. Getting into the Word to verify every word of doctrine. Allowing and asking the Holy Spirit to help us to rightly divide the Word of God. In John 6 the last part of the chapter starting in the 53 verse, Jesus tells us that we need to eat His body and drink His blood. The word eat means to gnaw on, chew on, like a cow chewing a cud. The cow swallows the food then goes and stands in the shade and regurgitates the food a little at a time and chews it up finer, getting out of it the nutrients need to make her grow strong. That is what we are to do with Christ's Word Remember John starts out by telling us that Jesus is the Word. That word is his body that we must chew to get strength. And the Blood is what he shed on the cross that gives us everylasting life. How do we drink of his blood? By accepting cleansing Blood to wash our sins away. Believing in Jesus and repenting of our sins.

Bless yall!
Be ye filled with the Holy Spirit to overflowing!

2 Timothy 3:1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. 9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. 10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, 11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
