JOTS FROM OLD JAKE

THE SPIRITUAL ILL PILL!

Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007 - 4:09 p.m.

2 Timothy 3:10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, 11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

The sinful nature of man seems to take upon itself the responsibility of changing things for the better. The only problem is that they are not better We get led away from the truth as taught by the Holy Spirit from the Word of God, allowing our minds to wonder after other ideas that are brought to by our Christian brethren from their own intellect and not from the Holy Spirit. We rationalize their ideas and it appears to make sense. When in reality it is a deviation from the truth. Such a deviation grows into a full-fledged apostasy from the Gospel of Christ. In math you know that if you are talking about small amounts that a slight deviation means nothing. However, if you multiply that deviation several times it becomes greater and more significant.

When you sight in a rifle you adjust the sight by small clicks on the rear sight. One click, which doesnt seem like it even moved, makes the bullet on the target move by several inches at a given distance. The longer the distance the greater the move. The same is true in science. If you add a small error to an equation, it will seem insignificant from the start. Then you build on that equation not realizing that error is there, or thinking that it is insignificant, and as you add more the error becomes greater. This continues until nothing in the whole equation makes any sense at all. This has been demonstrated by the theory of evolution.

While I am truly against teaching such bunk in any capacity, evolution is not the worst thing that can befall the Christian. I am talking about the sidelines that pop up in organized Christian churches. To begin with they get away from teaching the Word of God. They read the scripture without finding out the meaning of it, they add their own twist to it. (out of context.) The parishioners except it as gospel with out checking it out to be the truth. Acts 17:11 should be the model of every Christian. in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

There is no pill that cures the ills of the spirit It is only the blood of Jesus that can redeem. We must go back to that place of redemption over and over again and build upon that rock.

Blessings to yall
Be ye filled with the Holy Spirit to overflowing!
